The friendship between ‘Karalienė Luizė’ club and the ‘Saulutė’ foster family of the children care home ‘Rytas’ lasts almost since the establishment of the club. The Rotarians have taken Pavel, an extremely talented young man from the foster family, under the auspice, as well as organized quite a few meetings, ceramics lessons. The women are also keen to drop by for a cup of tea and a chat with the children. Honest communication is just as important as the materialistic good for the children and youth living in care homes. That is why we put all our effort into sharing our experience with the older members of the ‘Saulutė’ foster family and sparking interest in new activities in the younger children.
On 11th of April 2017, with handfuls of treats and presents, we visited our supported children in their ACTUAL HOME and not ‘Rytas’ care home for the first time. It has been a month since ‘Saulutė’ foster family has started residing in a spacious, two-stored community home with a fireplace, roomy kitchen, dining room and four bedrooms. The house, which has been provided by the municipality government, is occupied by 4 boys and 4 girls. The age of the children ranges from 15 to 18 years. Both the supervisors and the children are creating a cosy home, which, owing to the sisters of our club will always smell like bread and pastries, and there will be just enough topics to discuss with a cup of tea.
